I Ciacca is now home to La Cantina, a stunning historic farmhouse, organic heritage vineyard and state of the art winery. We are working with Alberto Antonini, ‘one of the world’s top five consultant winemakers’ (Decanter, July 2015), to produce a new range of speciality organic wines made from our very own Maturano grapes. Maturano is a unique, indigenous variety from Picinisco.
For over 500 years, our family have been famed for its outstanding farm produce and wine. Today, I Ciacca’s organic natural larder is brimming with a unique range of speciality produce, including our very own Maturano wines and single estate cold pressed extra virgin olive oil made with Picinisco olives.
Sotto Le Stelle is I Ciacca’s boutique hotel. Translated simply as ‘under the stars’, Sotto Le Stelle is set within a former Bishop’s Palace built on the ancient walls of Picinisco. Our collection of luxury 1, 2 & 3 bedroom suites benefit from a private balcony or dedicated terrace with elevated views over the Comino Valley.
I Ciacca has always been a place to teach and a place to learn. At our farmhouse cookery school, we offer tailored courses and experiences for guests to learn about local agriculture and gastronomy, including courses on beekeeping, foraging, and how to make traditional cheese, artisan bread, pasta and olive oil.
I Ciacca was established as an Albergo Diffuso. This innovative concept of hospitality is helping to breathe new life into our small, historic Italian town and countryside. Historical buildings have been lovingly restored, heritage vineyard re-cultivated and local farm produce revitalised, in order to bring exceptional food and drink and authentic Italian hospitality back to this region of outstanding natural beauty.
